Writing Picture Books 101 In-Person
Interested in learning to write picture books? Level Up at the library this summer by registering for this multi-week workshop.
Picture books are illustrated books for children ages 3-8 and are often read aloud. Manuscripts are usually under 700 words. In this workshop, you’ll learn about what makes a picture book a picture book, different types of picture books, and important aspects of craft, as well as work on your own picture book manuscript.
Together with author Meghan Wilson Duff, we’ll study picture book mentor texts, and you’ll have a chance to get feedback and revise your story. Participants in this workshop will leave with an appreciation for writing as both a solitary and group activity, as well as the importance of revision and allowing your story to develop. Beginning writers and experienced writers new to exploring picture books are welcome.
