How Do Heatwaves and Drought Events Impact Maine's Trees? In-Person

Bangor Public Library is pleased to announce this is the first in a series of presentations in partnership with the Forest Society of Maine.

Dr. Jay Wason leads several large research projects to understand better how Maine's iconic forests are responding to increasingly common extreme weather conditions.  He and his graduate students, Megan Gega and Laura Pinover, will share results from several ongoing studies throughout Maine with a focus on how heatwaves and drought events impact our native trees.

Dr. Wason is an Associate Professor of Forest Ecosystem Physiology and the Universit of Maine's School of Forest Resouces.  His research addresses how stressors like heat and drought impact the physiology, growth, and survival of trees.

Megan Gega and Laura Pinover are 2nd-year Master of Science students working in Dr. Wason's lab.
