Privacy Club In-Person
Join Digital Media Librarian Hannah Cyrus for a new program series focused on implementing practical steps to protect your privacy online. "Privacy Club" will meet every other Saturday from 3-4 PM in the library's computer lab, for ten sessions beginning January 11th and running through May 17th, 2025.
This group is designed to help you reclaim autonomy over your digital information and build practical skills to avoid scams, protect your data, and subvert surveillance. Each session will include a brief presentation on a different topic in digital privacy, and ample work time to put that knowledge to use. Topics include web browsing, passwords, scams, email, phones, and social media. All participants will receive individual help to make a privacy plan that works for them and take steps to make that plan a reality.
Privacy club is free of charge, but space is limited, so registration is required to attend. Please only register if you are able to attend the majority of the sessions:
- January 11
- January 25
- February 8
- February 22
- March 8
- March 22
- April 5
- April 19
- May 3
- May 17
Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices to each meeting, as we will be doing hands-on work to improve privacy and security on them. Library computers will also be available and can be used to help with some tasks.
Register using the form below, or for more information, contact Hannah at 922-6055 or hannah.cyrus@bangorpubliclibrary.org.
