Coding Crash Course: HTML & CSS In-Person / Online
Join the library on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 2-4 PM for a technology workshop, "Coding Crash Course: HTML & CSS" taught by Jayson Vanidestine. This course is meant for anyone, regardless of skill level, whether you want to learn a brand new skill or just need a refresher. Jayson will cover the absolute basics of how to program in HTML and CSS, the language of the internet. Students will learn how to structure an HTML file and how to apply a "fresh coat of paint" using CSS files.
Basic coding languages are in high demand, whether you want to build your own website for fun or seek a job in the software industry. You can make coding a hobby, a career, or just use it as a resume builder - that is the point of programming; to create the path from point A, to point B! You will learn not only how the front end of websites work, but also what makes the magic happen behind the scenes.
Jayson Vanidestine has been programming since high-school at UTC in Bangor, and all the way through University of Maine, Orono, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in New Media. He is programmer at heart and a jack of all trades in the world of game development. He hopes his passion for the trade will copy/paste itself to his students!
The library offers regular technology workshops on different subjects. All workshops are free of charge, but space is limited, so registration is required to attend, using the form below. Attendance is available both in-person and online via Zoom. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop computer or device if they have one they want to learn on, or use one of the library’s computers if not.
