Who was Waldo Peirce?

Who was Waldo Peirce? In-Person

Who was Waldo Peirce? Join us for an art opening and short lecture on this Bangor luminary of yore. Get to know artist Waldo Peirce (1884-1970) through a collaborative exhibit displayed in the Cyr Gallery, featuring Bangor Public Library's collection of Peirce's artwork and archival materials, enhanced by the generous loans of our partners' Waldo Peirce collections.

At 6:30 PM, George Kinghorn will provide insights on Waldo Peirce in the Norman Minsky Lecture Hall.

Four pieces by Waldo Peirce from the University of Maine art collection are on display in the lobby of the Zillman Art Museum.

Partners who have loaned artwork for this exhibit: The Waldo Peirce Reading Room, the Bangor Historical Society, the Bangor Art Society, Nichi and Doug Farnham, and Diana Young. Community artwork is also on display in the form of Postal Art based on the work of Waldo Peirce, who decorated much of his correspondence to family and friends with drawings and paintings of the world he found around himself.

A special thank you goes to Douglas Carver for sharing his family stories of their time with Waldo Peirce.
