Prose & Cons Book Group: The Remains of the Day

Prose & Cons Book Group: The Remains of the Day In-Person

Join us the fourth Wednesday of the month from 6-7pm for Prose & Cons, a book discussion group highlighting a diverse array of titles and genres, run by a different library staff member each month. No registration is needed, and attendees are welcome to pick and choose any meetings that interest them.

On Wednesday June 26, Paul Nicklas, Reference & Inter-Library Loan Librarian, will lead a discussion on The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. According to the publisher, "A contemporary classic, The Remains of the Day is Kazuo Ishiguro’s beautiful and haunting evocation of life between the wars in a Great English House. In the summer of 1956, Stevens, the ageing butler of Darlington Hall, embarks on a leisurely holiday that will take him deep into the countryside and into his past."

This reflective, intimate character study is both deeply rooted in place and time and broadly accessible. Reserve a print copy, read the eBook, or listen to the audiobook before attending!
